Pandemic (H1N1) 2009: we need to ensure that Europe is prepared.
Last April, the world was introduced to a new virus, known as the pandemic (H1N1) 2009 virus. To fight it, systems and structures already in place in the European Union for surveillance and coordination purposes are being used to respond effectively to this public health threat.
Public health measures such as simple hygiene procedures and vaccination are important elements of prevention. However, as we do not know how the virus will develop in the future we need to continue our surveillance efforts to support Member States authorities, and to ensure effective communication with the general public as the situation develops.
To support Member States and EU level collaboration, the European Commission adopted a strategy on Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 – setting out key public health priorities and actions for the EU in tackling this pandemic. This strategy includes vaccination strategy; the regulatory process; joint procurement; communication to the public and support to third countries which all contribute to the overall response to this global health threat.
from 25 Oct. the low cost carrier Air Arabia will acivate 3 flights a week between Casablanca and Venice/Treviso
